Youth Fellowship
The Youth Fellowship (YF) is a ministry for those who are currently studying in their latter years of high school till the completion of their undergraduate studies. The YF meets every Friday in church at 7:00 pm to 8:45 pm to worship God in song, dig into God’s Word through messages and Bible studies, and have spiritual communion with one another in personal sharing and prayer. This year, the YF theme is “A Passion for Thee,” focusing on rekindling and sustaining our commitment, love and service for the Lord Jesus Christ.
“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might” – Deuteronomy 6:5
As there are many issues that youths meet on route to becoming mature young adults, the YF provides the environment for sharing with other youths who have faced the same or similar situations. Furthermore, the spiritual feeding every week is directed to help guide and guard the heart, so that we are equipped to face every trial and temptation. Finally, we conclude each meeting with a time of prayer, to commit our supplications to God, so that we may encourage and support one another in prayer.
We are also involved on other days of the week, in arranging outings for the youths to fellowship with one another. Previous events include ice-skating, tubing, bowling, playing badminton, going to the beach, ultimate and many more. While these events offer a day of fun and leisure, they allow us to grow together as Christians, to commune with each other.
In our service for God, we organized a Vacation Bible School for children in Batam, Indonesia in 2007. Other missions include volunteering at Potter’s Place, serving food and communing with economically disadvantaged people. Moreover, the YF has organized the church caroling which takes place on Christmas Eve every year. This year, the YF is taking on the organization and running of the Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) held at the church in the summer. Hopefully after this year, the YF wishes to continue this area of service by organizing this DVBS in other churches in nearby provinces and regions.
